Role Summary
Provides platform-specific expertise on Hitachi eSOMS and shift-based control room operations to ensure the proposed solution reflects real-world operational workflows. This is anticipated to be the hardest of the ten roles to source, and the approach to filling it should be handled with particular care and transparency.
Engagement Context
This role exists to ground the proposal in genuine, hands-on eSOMS and control-room experience rather than generic integration theory. Because eSOMS-specific talent is scarce, the search should cast a wide net across former utility control-room staff, prior Hitachi eSOMS implementers, and adjacent Operations Management System (OMS) specialists, always with a clear-eyed view of what has and has not been directly done on the eSOMS platform itself.
Key Responsibilities

• Advise on Hitachi eSOMS platform capabilities, configuration options, and best practices.
• Validate that the proposed solution aligns with real-world shift operations and control room workflows.
• Support design of Operating Orders, Work Permit, and Shift Log functionality within eSOMS.
• Provide subject-matter input into testing scenarios reflecting actual control-room use cases.
• Advise the proposal team on realistic eSOMS configuration timelines and effort.
• Where direct eSOMS experience is unavailable, clearly articulate transferable OMS/operations-management experience and its relevance.

Required Qualifications

• Direct experience with the Hitachi eSOMS platform strongly preferred.
• Background in shift operations and control room operations within a utility or industrial environment.
• Familiarity with Operating Orders, Work Permits, and Shift Log processes.
• Closely related experience with other Operations Management Systems (OMS) will be considered if direct eSOMS experience is unavailable.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience specifically within a steam or power-generation control room environment.
• Prior participation in an eSOMS or comparable OMS implementation or migration project.
• Familiarity with NERC or utility-specific operational compliance considerations.
