Technical Lead, Full Stack Development Python / Go / Java, AWS (Healthcare Claims)

About the opportunity

Our client is a technology consulting and delivery firm serving major US health plans. They are hiring hands-on Technical Leads to design and build highly available, distributed claims systems on AWS. You will set technical direction for a small team, write code every day, and work with product and client stakeholders to turn requirements into reliable, well-tested systems.

What you'll do

• Lead design and development of distributed, high-availability services in Python and Go or Java
• Make key AWS infrastructure decisions for scalability, cost, security and resilience on EKS / Kubernetes
• Drive automation across CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning, testing and operations
• Run design reviews and set coding and architecture standards
• Mentor engineers and guide their growth
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis and reliability improvements
• Set team standards for safe, effective AI-assisted coding

What you'll bring

• 8+ years of software engineering with significant depth in distributed systems
• Expert-level Python plus Go or Java
• Deep hands-on AWS experience, including containers on EKS / Kubernetes
• Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible
• Distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, fault tolerance, messaging (Kafka, SQS/SNS) and data partitioning
• Experience leading technical projects or small teams
• Daily use of AI development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and working knowledge of LLM patterns such as RAG, embeddings and MCP
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

• US health plan / payer experience: claims, enrollment, benefits, HIPAA
• Red Hat OpenShift experience
• Node.js
• HL7, FHIR or X12 EDI
• Consulting or client-facing experience
