Quick overview
Job description
About the Role
Join a small engineering team at a defense and space technology startup as its first dedicated electrical and computer engineer. You will prepare a satellite flight computer for launch and contribute to the electronics and GPU compute systems that support in-orbit AI inference.
What You'll Do
Design and own the satellite flight computer, with initial focus on making it flight-ready.
Build, bring up, and debug hardware hands-on in the Los Angeles lab.
Work with manufacturing partners to design electronics and compute systems for a full-scale satellite.
Help select high-speed interconnects, including NVLink and SerDes, and evaluate photonics and optical interconnects.
Write firmware and platform software for the payload as needed.
What We're Looking For
Electrical or computer engineering degree, or equivalent experience, with 0 to 15 years of relevant engineering experience.
At least one year of experience in a high-growth, venture-backed startup or comparable zero-to-one environment.
End-to-end custom board or system-board design experience, including schematics, high-speed PCB layout, hardware bring-up, and debugging.
Knowledge of high-speed digital design and signal and power integrity fundamentals.
Experience with GPUs, accelerators, SoCs, or large ASICs is valuable.
Exposure to photonics, optical interconnects, networking, contract manufacturers, or ODMs is beneficial.
Space, satellite, or radiation-hardened hardware experience is beneficial, as is a background combining startup work with aerospace or government contracting.
Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $120,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
