Job Title: Onsite Deskside Support Specialist

Location: Hopkinsville, KY / Richmond, VA

Job Type: Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a customer-focused, hands-on Onsite Deskside Support Specialist to provide direct, face-to-face technical assistance to our end users. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for troubleshooting hardware, software, and operating system issues for desktops and laptops. The ideal candidate has a strong IT service mindset, experience with OS imaging, and a solid foundation in Windows desktop environments and Microsoft Office applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-User Support: Provide prompt, courteous, and effective onsite deskside support for all internal end users experiencing hardware, software, or peripheral issues.

  • Hardware & Device Lifecycle: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, and associated hardware components.

  • System Deployment & Imaging: Provision new machines by imaging laptops and desktops for rapid deployment to incoming or existing staff.

  • Software Troubleshooting: Install, configure, and support Windows operating systems, third-party software, and internal Windows-based business applications.

  • Microsoft Office Assistance: Assist users with troubleshooting, installation, and general usage queries related to the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Ticketing & Documentation: Log, track, and resolve IT incidents and service requests through the company’s ticketing system while documenting solutions for future reference.

Core Qualifications

  • Experience: Experience in a desktop support, helpdesk, or onsite IT support role.

  • OS Imaging & Deployment: Hands-on experience with workstation imaging tools and methods (e.g., SCCM, WDS, MDT, or Ghost) to set up and configure new machines.

  • Operating Systems: Strong proficiency in troubleshooting and managing Microsoft Windows environments.

  • Applications & Productivity: Solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications and general Windows-compatible software.

  • Hardware Expertise: Familiarity with diagnosing and repairing laptop and desktop hardware components.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a proven track record of providing user-friendly, empathetic technical support to non-technical staff.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • CompTIA A+ or relevant Microsoft desktop certifications.

  • Experience working within an ITIL-based framework or using enterprise ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk).
