Job Description

Sewell Wallis is partnering with a large South Yorkshire manufacturing business based in Sheffield in their search for a Talent Acquisition Partner.

This is a new role and will report directly to a driven, proactive HR Director. As a key member of the HR team, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end recruitment and talent agenda for this growing business. The role will develop and deliver a recruitment strategy that supports the ambition to double organisational headcount over the next 2-3 years, ensuring the business attracts, selects and retains the talent needed to meet operational and strategic growth plans. The postholder will create a suite of fit-for-purpose job descriptions, establish and manage an effective preferred supplier list, build interval succession plans for critical roles, and lead innovative talent attraction and retention initiatives, including recruitment open days.

The role requires strong recruitment expertise within a manufacturing environment and the ability to work closely with leaders across the business to build sustainable talent pipelines.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop and deliver a recruitment and talent strategy aligned to business growth plans, with a clear roadmap to support doubling headcount over the next 2-3 years.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment activity across all functions, ensuring timely, high-quality hiring outcomes that meet operational and strategic workforce needs.
  • Create, review and maintain a suite of clear, accurate and fit-for-purpose job descriptions in partnership with hiring managers and business leaders.
  • Establish, review and manage a preferred supplier list.
  • Develop interval succession plans for critical and hard-to-fill roles, supporting organisational resilience and longer-term talent development.
  • Design and deliver creative talent attraction campaigns to strengthen employer brand awareness and increase candidate engagement across local and wider talent markets.
  • Develop and implement retention initiatives in partnership with HR and operational leaders to improve candidate conversion, employee engagement and long-term retention.
  • Plan and manage recruitment open days, careers events and site-based attraction activity to showcase the business as an employer of choice.
  • Build strong talent pipelines through direct sourcing, community engagement, education partnerships, referrals and external recruitment channels.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to improve workforce planning, interview quality, candidate assessment and hiring decisions.
  • Work with the HRD to create and track the people budget in line with the forecast.
  • Support the reporting of headcount v's plan in line with government commitments.
  • Monitor recruitment performance, market trends and talent insights, using data to inform hiring strategy, supplier performance and continuous improvement.

What skills do we need?

  • CIPD qualification, degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience in HR, recruitment or talent management.
  • Significant experience leading recruitment activity in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-volume and specialist recruitment campaigns in support of business growth.
  • Experience of creating job descriptions, managing agency relationships and implementing effective preferred supplier list arrangements.
  • Experience of succession planning, talent mapping and building pipelines for critical business roles.
  • Demonstrable ability to develop innovative talent attraction and retention initiatives that improve hiring outcomes and employee engagement.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively across HR, operations and leadership teams.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple vacancies, campaigns and priorities simultaneously.
  • Confident using recruitment systems, reporting tools and data to track performance, produce insights and support decision-making.
  • A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach, with the drive to deliver results in a fast-paced operational environment.
