DATA SCIENTIST - SC CLEARED - 1 DAY ONSITE CENTRAL LONDON - 6 MONTH CONTRACT - OUTSIDE IR35
TechShack is recruiting 2x Data Scientists for a 6 month contract supporting a UK Government department on an AI-enabled data and business systems programme.
This role requires active SC clearance. Candidates who do not meet this criteria cannot be considered.
THE PROGRAMME
The programme covers two key deliverables: a new MCP (Model Context Protocol) server enabling an internal AI assistant to securely query business data in natural language, and an AI-powered MVP automating the capture, summarisation and submission of business information from Outlook and Teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement a new MCP server using the organisation's existing data platform/API
• Enable natural language querying of business datasets via an internal AI assistant
• Integrate relevant datasets based on defined user and business requirements
• Integrate with an existing CRM/business management platform
• Develop an MVP retrieving information from Outlook and Teams
• Use AI to identify relevant information and automatically summarise it for submission
• Build an MCP-based integration between the AI capability and the data platform
• Develop the workflow from information retrieval through to AI processing, review and submission
• Support testing, validation and acceptance with business and product stakeholders

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Active SC clearance (mandatory)
• Hands-on experience building MCP Servers
• Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities with APIs, data platforms and business applications, rather than experience limited to using generative AI tools
• Python and/or TypeScript
• API development and integration
• Data platforms and data APIs
• AI agents and tool calling
• Working knowledge of AWS
• Data security and authentication
• Experience developing and deploying MVPs

DESIRABLE

• Microsoft 365/Outlook/Teams integrations
• CRM integrations

ROLE DETAILS
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months
Location: Central London, on site at least 1 day per week
Clearance: Active SC clearance required
Start Date: Ideally 14th October 2026, some flexibility on this
