Job Description
We’re looking for an engaging, experienced tutor to support a homeschooled student with foundational reading skills. The ideal candidate has a background in reading intervention and/or special education, with experience working with autistic learners.
The student is a multisensory learner who thrives with 1:1 instruction, hands-on manipulatives, phonics, and sight-word work. We’re looking for someone lively, patient, confidence-building, and comfortable using a data-driven, individualized approach.
Experience with expressive language delays and adapting instruction to meet a student’s learning style is a plus.
Reading Specialist, Special Education, or related educational background
Direct experience working with students with autism and/or similar learning profiles
Demonstrated experience providing individualized reading intervention
Strong understanding of multisensory phonics and foundational literacy instruction
Experience incorporating sight words, phonemic awareness, and hands-on learning
Comfortable adapting instruction based on the student’s individual learning style and needs
Patient, engaging, and confidence-building teaching approach
Ability to use data to track progress and inform instruction
$50-$80 per hour, depending on experience
