Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a major London public sector organisation on an interim basis.


Key requirement: The role will focus on supporting a busy payroll function, handling high volumes of data, responding to payroll-related queries, and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed accurately and within strict deadlines.


Key Details

Contract: Until March 2027

Location: Stratford, London (Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite / 2 days WFH)

Rate: £120 PAYE / £162.46 Umbrella per day

Start: ASAP

Interview: One-stage - Face to Face


Role

• Support the payroll team with high-volume data processing and administration

• Accurately input, maintain and update payroll-related records and information

• Respond to payroll enquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner

• Ensure all payroll administration is completed in line with deadlines and service standards

• Manage and prioritise workload within a fast-paced environment

• Produce and maintain accurate records using Excel and other office systems

• Provide administrative support across the wider payroll function


Requirements

• Excellent attention to detail and strong numeracy skills (essential )

• Experience working accurately with high volumes of data (essential )

• Good Excel skills, including data entry and record management (essential )

• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Experience handling customer queries via phone and email

• Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, including managing conflicting priorities

• Previous payroll, finance, administration, shared services or public sector experience

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general administrative systems
