SAP Basis with Batch Jobs Testing

Scope:

SAP Batch Job testing to support technical validation of migrated ECC background/batch jobs in the SAP S/4HANA environment. The testing scope includes test preparation, job execution, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance analysis, reporting and coordination with application and technical teams to validate that critical batch workloads execute successfully and within agreed operational and performance parameters.

• Prioritization of in-scope ECC batch jobs being migrated to S/4HANA. The number of jobs identified for the scope is 45 in number.
• Review of job definitions, schedules, dependencies, variants, users, programs, interfaces, and predecessor/successor relationships
• Preparation of the S/4HANA environment and coordination of required test data
• Execution or coordination of batch jobs in controlled test cycles
• Monitoring of job execution, runtime, failures, work processes, database/system utilization, and related system behavior
• Comparison of ECC baseline performance with S/4HANA execution where applicable
• Root-cause analysis and triage of failed, delayed, cancelled, or degraded jobs
• Retesting following configuration/code/data corrections
• Performance reporting and recommendations
• Coordination with functional, ABAP, infrastructure, database, interface, testing, and business teams
• Support for batch readiness/sign-off prior to cutover

Deliverables:

Deliverable	Description
Batch Test Plan	Test approach, test cycles, environments, prerequisites, execution sequence, acceptance criteria and responsibilities.
ECC Baseline Report	Available historical runtime/performance information for critical jobs to establish comparison benchmarks.
Test Data / Prerequisite Tracker	Identification and status of data, configuration, interfaces and prerequisite jobs required for execution.
Batch Execution Log	Execution date/time, job status, runtime, volume, result, issues identified and retest status.
Batch Performance Report	ECC versus S/4HANA runtime comparison, system utilization, bottlenecks, anomalies and performance observations.
Issue / Defect Log	Technical problems identified during execution, severity, owner, root cause, remediation and status.
Performance Recommendations	Recommendations related to job scheduling, parallelization, background work processes, job sequencing, resource contention or technical optimization.
Test Summary Report	Consolidated results including jobs passed/failed, outstanding issues, risks, exceptions and recommendations.
Batch Readiness / Sign-off Input	Technical assessment of readiness of critical batch processing for production cutover.
