The Role

• Interpret engineering drawings, prepare materials, and perform plate preparation using oxy-fuel cutting and hand grinding.
• Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding of components like decks, bulkheads, and frames.
• Fabricate essential ship items including seats, ladders, panels, and watertight doors.
• Form materials using various machine tools such as guillotines, croppers, and mechanical saws.

What You'll Need

• A relevant Modern Apprenticeship certificate or Trade Papers (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Demonstrable up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in operating oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment safely.
• Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes and tack welding standards.
• Adherence to SHE principles, risk assessment requirements, and experience working safely in confined spaces or at height.
