Job Description

Exciting Opportunity for Seasoned AI Leadership: Machine Learning / AI Contractor
Please Note: This is a W2 position.
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Onsite in Atlanta, GA  OR Hartford, CT OR   St.Paul, MN

Are you a dynamic AI engineer with a passion for shaping cutting-edge agentic systems on AWS? We’re seeking an experienced Machine Learning / AI Contractor to take the lead in developing and orchestrating next-generation AI solutions for a high-profile, funded project. This role offers a unique chance to influence architecture at scale, mentor innovative teams, and work directly with key stakeholders—all while leveraging your deep expertise in GenAI, AWS Bedrock, and multi-agent orchestration.

In this position, you will drive strategic technical decisions, design complex RAG pipelines, and implement robust infrastructure-as-code strategies. Your hands-on experience combined with leadership skills will be instrumental in delivering impactful AI-driven products within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. If you’re ready to make a tangible impact in the AI space and thrive in a role that balances technical mastery with leadership, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture and provide technical direction for agentic AI systems built on AWS Bedrock AgentCore (Runtime, Gateway, Memory, Identity).
  • Design multi-agent orchestration workflows utilizing tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, Strands, or CrewAI.
  • Own and develop end-to-end Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline architecture—including chunking, embeddings, vector indexing, retrieval tuning, and reranking.
  • Drive Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code strategies for AWS AI workloads, including Bedrock, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
  • Build and review production-grade Python services (FastAPI/Flask) exposing agent and RAG capabilities.
  • Implement and manage MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations ensuring secure, standardized tool/agent access.
  • Establish evaluation and observability standards for hallucination detection, latency, and cost tracking using tools like RAGAS, LangSmith, and custom evaluation harnesses.
  • Define and enforce AI governance standards—guardrails, prompt-injection defenses, PII masking, and audit logging.
  • Lead technical design reviews, architecture decisions, and ensure best practices across the AI engineering team.
  • Mentor and develop a team of AI/ML engineers, providing guidance on technical growth and ownership of hiring processes.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and business stakeholders regarding AI architecture and solutions.

Required Skills:

  • 9+ years of software engineering experience with proven leadership
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with production GenAI or agentic AI systems
  • Expertise in AWS Bedrock AgentCore (Runtime, Gateway, Memory, Identity)
  • Strong Python skills and proficiency in Terraform infrastructure as code
  • Deep familiarity with RAG architecture, vector databases, and LLM evaluation frameworks
  • Experience with agent orchestration tools such as LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or Strands
  • Proven ability to design multi-agent workflows, implement secure integrations, and establish observability standards
  • Experience building production Python services (FastAPI/Flask) and implementing MCP protocols
  • Effective stakeholder communication skills, including client-facing interactions

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Insurance or claims domain experience
  • AWS certifications (AI Practitioner, Solutions Architect, ML Specialty)
  • Experience with front-end technologies like ReactJS and NodeJS
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, GitHub, Claude, Copilot
  • Prior experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • Extensive track record leading AI projects and teams
  • Hands-on experience with multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the forefront of AI innovation within a well-funded and strategic project. If you’re driven by challenge, eager to lead, and possess the required expertise, don’t miss your chance—apply now to join our team of visionary AI professionals!
