Job Description

Field Service Engineer | Sowerby Bridge, Halifax, West Yorkshire | Full Time | 37.5-hour working week, Monday to Thursday 7:30 am - 4:15 pm and Friday 7:30 am - 12:00 pm | £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

The Role

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced multi-skilled Field Service Engineer to install, commission, provide training on, and service and repair a range of Laser Cutters, Laser Engravers and CNC machine tools at customer sites throughout the UK.

This is a predominantly field-based role, using a company-provided van to deliver and install new equipment, as well as service existing customer machines across the UK mainland.

Key Responsibilities

Install, commission, provide training on, service and repair Laser Cutters, Laser Engravers and CNC machine tools

Deliver and install new equipment at customer sites

Service existing customer machines across the UK mainland

Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding to component level

Carry out wiring and electrical testing, including using a multimeter

Diagnose and repair machinery faults

Provide excellent customer support and training

Communicate confidently with customers and provide product training when required

Work independently while managing your own field-based workload

Requirements

Essential

Strong experience in CNC, laser or machine tool field installation, servicing, fault finding and repairs

Laser Cutter/Engraver experience is ideal, but strong CNC/Machine Tool Field Service Engineers with transferable electrical and mechanical experience will also be considered

Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills to component level

Practical experience with wiring and using a multimeter

A recognised electrical and/or mechanical qualification is ideal, but candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered

Strong installation and commissioning experience

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent customer-facing communication skills

Comfortable communicating with and training customers

Hard-working, dependable and proactive approach

Ability to use initiative and think on your feet

Positive can-do attitude with a focus on delivering an excellent customer experience

Live within commuting distance of Halifax

Good computer skills

Desirable

Previous experience installing and commissioning machinery

Experience working with laser cutting and engraving equipment, particularly metal cutting and CO2 non-metal applications

Experience servicing CNC machine tools

Previous experience delivering customer training

Willingness and ability to travel internationally when opportunities arise, although this is very occasional
