We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared Security & Vetting Process Lead to support a leading international energy company specialising in electricity generation, gas supply and global energy trading in establishing and implementing robust UK personnel security and National Security Vetting processes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist with strong UK vetting, personnel security and regulatory experience to take ownership of process design, governance and implementation readiness within a complex, international organisation.

The initial three-month contract will focus on assessing existing arrangements, identifying gaps and developing a clear, compliant and operationally effective framework for background screening, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks and National Security Vetting.

You will work closely with UK stakeholders and a wider cross-functional team based in Germany, collaborating across Security, HR, Legal, Data Protection, Procurement and IT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess current UK personnel security, screening and vetting arrangements, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Design and document end-to-end processes covering background screening, BPSS and National Security Vetting.
  • Define governance frameworks, roles and responsibilities, decision-making points and escalation procedures.
  • Establish clear criteria for identifying roles requiring enhanced screening or security vetting.
  • Develop process maps, standard operating procedures, templates and practical guidance.
  • Define requirements for data handling, reporting, quality assurance, confidentiality and auditability.
  • Review existing workflows, providers and systems, documenting the changes required to support effective implementation.
  • Ensure processes align with relevant UK vetting requirements, legal obligations and data protection standards.
  • Develop a practical implementation roadmap covering risks, dependencies, resource requirements and key decisions.
  • Support implementation planning, ensuring processes are clear, compliant and ready for operational rollout.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience in UK personnel security, National Security Vetting or background screening.
  • Practical knowledge of BPSS and the UK personnel vetting life cycle.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing operational processes within a regulated, sensitive or high-security environment.
  • A strong understanding of the legal and regulatory considerations surrounding personnel screening, vetting and the handling of sensitive information.
  • Experience developing process documentation, governance frameworks, procedures and implementation plans.
  • Excellent stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work across Security, HR, Legal, Data Protection, Procurement and IT.
  • A strong understanding of confidentiality, data protection and secure information-handling practices.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver tangible outcomes within a short contract.
  • Current SC clearance, or the ability to meet the relevant security clearance and UK residency requirements.

Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience establishing or improving UK vetting processes, particularly within a large or international organisation.
  • Experience with SAP Fieldglass or similar vendor-management systems.
  • Background in the energy sector or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • German language skills would be a significant advantage.

Why Apply?
  • Competitive day rate: £622 per day.
  • Remote working: Fully remote opportunity within the UK.
  • Strong extension potential: An initial three-month contract with a very strong likelihood of extension.
  • High-impact project: Take the lead in shaping and establishing UK security and vetting processes.
  • International collaboration: Work with UK and German teams across a major organisation.
