Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Lead QA Engineer to drive the overall quality assurance strategy for our software products. The candidate will be responsible for leading the QA team, defining testing strategies, ensuring comprehensive test coverage, and delivering high-quality software through effective manual and automation testing practices.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, API testing, automation frameworks, and end-to-end testing. The candidate should also be capable of understanding business requirements, identifying gaps, reviewing technical implementations, and ensuring that the application meets functional and business expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. QA Strategy & Planning

• Define and implement QA strategies, test plans, and test approaches.
• Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and technical documentation.
• Identify requirement gaps, ambiguities, dependencies, and potential risks.
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage across positive, negative, boundary, and edge scenarios.
• Establish QA processes, standards, and best practices.

2. Manual & Functional Testing

• Lead functional, sanity, smoke, regression, system, integration, and UAT testing.
• Validate end-to-end business workflows and application functionality.
• Perform UI, usability, compatibility, and cross-browser testing.
• Validate CRUD operations, data integrity, field validations, permissions, and business rules.
• Identify, document, track, and manage defects through resolution.

3. Automation Testing

• Design, develop, and maintain automation testing frameworks.
• Lead automation initiatives for web application and end-to-end testing.
• Work with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure automation scripts have meaningful assertions and reliable test results.
• Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual testing through automation.

4. API, Integration & Technical Testing

• Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools.
• Validate API requests, responses, status codes, authentication, and error handling.
• Understand frontend, backend, database, and API interactions.
• Coordinate with developers to validate unit, integration, and system-level test coverage.
• Perform database validation and backend data verification using SQL.
• Identify integration failures and data inconsistencies.

5. Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and guide QA engineers.
• Allocate testing activities based on project priorities and timelines.
• Review test cases, automation scripts, and test execution reports.
• Monitor team productivity, testing progress, and defect resolution.
• Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders.

6. Quality Metrics & Reporting

• Define and monitor QA metrics, including test coverage, defect density, defect leakage, and automation coverage.
• Prepare test execution reports and release quality summaries.
• Track open, closed, deferred, and critical defects.
• Provide release readiness recommendations based on testing outcomes.
• Identify recurring quality issues and recommend preventive measures.

7. Continuous Improvement & AI-driven Testing

• Explore AI-powered testing tools to improve test case generation, automation, and defect analysis.
• Evaluate tools that support requirement analysis, test design, and automation.
• Encourage risk-based testing and intelligent test coverage.
• Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and methodologies.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of SDLC, STLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Hands-on experience in manual and automation testing.
• Experience with Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent automation tools.
• Strong API testing knowledge using Postman or similar tools.
• Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, and response validation.
• Database testing knowledge and SQL queries.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter is an advantage.
• Experience in test management, reporting, and QA documentation.

Required Experience & Competencies

• 7–10 years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in leading or mentoring QA teams.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand complex business workflows and translate them into test scenarios.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and testing priorities.
• Ownership of product quality from requirement analysis to production release.

Good to Have

• Experience in SaaS-based product testing.
• Experience testing recruitment, HR technology, or assessment platforms.
• Knowledge of cloud-based applications and microservices.
• Exposure to AI-based testing tools and AI-assisted automation.
• Experience in security, performance, and accessibility testing.
