We are looking for an experiencedย Backend Engineerย with strong expertise inย Backend Engineering, Python, and Goto design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.
The role is suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, designing robust services, and building production-grade systems that can scale with evolving business and product requirements. You will contribute across the backend engineering lifecycle, from architecture and API design to implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with product, frontend, infrastructure, DevOps, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable backend capabilities and maintain high standards of code quality, performance, security, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services usingย Python and Go.
- Build reliable, secure, and high-performance APIs and backend applications.
- Translate product and technical requirements into maintainable backend solutions.
- Design service architectures that support scalability, reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, integrations, and backend components.
- Write clean, reusable, testable, and production-ready code following established engineering practices.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design efficient data models and queries.
- Implement appropriate caching, asynchronous processing, messaging, and distributed-system patterns where required.
- Optimise application performance, resource utilisation, scalability, and system responsiveness.
- Develop unit, integration, and automated tests to maintain backend quality and reliability.
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and peer code reviews.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and other engineering teams.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, monitoring, logging, and production-release activities.
- Improve system observability through appropriate logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Identify technical debt, architectural improvements, and opportunities for automation and engineering efficiency.
- Contribute to documentation, coding standards, development processes, and backend engineering best practices.
- Stay current with developments inย Python, Go, distributed systems, cloud-native technologies, and modern backend engineering.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 4+ years of professional experienceย in backend software engineering or a closely related role.
- Strong hands-on expertise inย Python and Go, with experience building production-grade backend systems.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Proven experience developingย REST APIs, microservices, and distributed backend services.
- Strong understanding of databases, data modelling, query optimisation, and transaction management.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL and familiarity with NoSQL technologies is an advantage.
- Good understanding of concurrency, asynchronous processing, caching, messaging, and distributed-system concepts.
- Strong knowledge of software testing, debugging, performance optimisation, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with Git and modern CI/CD development workflows.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, observability, and infrastructure automation is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of secure software development and API security practices.
- Ability to independently own technical problems from design through implementation, deployment, and support.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to code quality and system reliability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to evolving architecture and engineering practices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree inย Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related disciplineย is preferred.
