Creative Flagstaff is seeking a community-focused arts educator with experience working with youth for a dynamic dual role that supports both educational programs and the operation of Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The Education Coordinator & Gallery Assistant is responsible for coordinating educational programs offered by Creative Flagstaff and Coconino Center for the Arts. The ideal candidate is passionate about the arts, has experience in education, enjoys working with youth and older adults, and possesses strong organizational skills. This position performs a vital role in the development of co-generational programming and assisting with gallery exhibitions while ensuring a welcoming and informative environment for all visitors.
This is an in-person position that requires regular weekend and evening hours to support educational programs and gallery operations.
WAGE
$23/hr, 20 hrs/week
EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Educational program development and implementation for the following programs and activities:
Creative Youth
- Creative Camps
- Creative Afterschool
- Youth Arts Exhibition
Co-Generational and Creative Aging Educational Programs
Interactive Space: Manage and develop the Educational Interactive Space
Exhibition Curriculum: Develop educational curriculum for youth and older adults
Educational Workshops: Coordinate Multi-generational Arts Workshops
GALLERY ASSISTANT
Program & Public Support: Assist with program coordination and public participation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, research, communications, coordination, documentation, and reporting.
Exhibition Preparation: Assist the Exhibition staff in preparation of the galleries and other spaces for exhibitions, programs, and events.
Art Handling: Safely and properly handle works of art and artifacts for uncrating, storage, installation, deinstallation, crating, and shipping.
Front-of-House Ambassador: Present a welcoming face of Coconino Center for the Arts. Serve as the primary gallery attendant for assigned shifts during open hours and special events, ensuring visitors have an engaging and enriching experience.
Membership Support: Support patrons with their membership engagement and membership benefits.
Merchandise & Concessions: Maintain the readiness of the front desk and merchandise areas. Assist in the coordination of the merchandise and concessions program.
Sales & Ticketing: Utilize Point of Sale (POS), ticketing, and other customer relationship software. Handle cash accurately.
Beverage Service: Serve alcohol and other concessions according to Creative Flagstaff policies and procedures, as well as Arizona state law.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
Associates degree preferred; experience could substitute for education
EXPERIENCE
1-2 years of related experience working in youth education preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Reliable transportation is required.
Current Arizona Title 4 liquor certification or ability to obtain certification after starting position. (Company paid)
State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain Clearance Card after starting position. (Company paid)
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is generally performed in an indoor professional office environment, however some programs and events are held outdoors in all seasons.
Position requires flexibility of scheduled work hours which may include frequent evening and weekend hours. Regular evening and weekend hours required for educational activities and gallery schedule.

- Ability to hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical effort is generally required which includes maneuvering construction materials, artwork, artifacts, and equipment, some of which might be more than 40 pounds
