Location: Hybrid in Austin, TX (4 days a week onsite)
Duration: 12 months (strong possibility for extension)

Software engineers build large-scale distributed systems, consumer-facing experiences, and resilient platforms that serve millions of users securely.
In this role, you will join an engineering team focused on core platform security and access technologies. You will design, build, and scale mission-critical authentication journeys, including next-generation capabilities such as Passwordless access, FIDO2/WebAuthn standards, and risk-adaptive decisioning engines.
You will combine systems engineering discipline with modern, AI-assisted development practices. Working cross-functionally with product, architecture, security, and fraud engineering teams, you will turn complex technical specifications and security standards into robust, highly available production services.
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software engineering experience developing enterprise web applications and services.
• Experience coding in Java, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks (such as Angular).
• Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and distributed service architectures (e.g., Spring Boot, API Gateways).
• Experience with relational and distributed database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Practical experience incorporating GenAI developer tooling (such as GitHub Copilot or similar CLI/IDE assistants) into engineering workflows to assist with refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing modern authentication and identity protocols, such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, FIDO2/WebAuthn, and passkeys.
• Experience building risk-based authentication systems utilizing telemetry, behavioral signals, device fingerprinting, and dynamic policy enforcement.
• Experience deploying and operating containerized microservices on cloud infrastructure (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS).
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Cucumber, Karma), CI/CD pipelines, and secure code scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Veracode, Black Duck).
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and distributed tracing platforms (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, BigQuery).
• Familiarity with industry security benchmarks (such as NIST digital identity guidelines) and designing high-throughput applications in regulated or security-critical environments.
• Practical exposure to spec-driven development, structured prompting, and emerging agentic workflows to improve testing coverage and software delivery velocity.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain robust, high-performance web applications and identity platform components.
• Implement end-to-end authentication journeys that balance user friction and platform security, including Passwordless Login, biometric auth, and dynamic risk-based step-up access.
• Partner cross-functionally with product managers, security engineers, systems architects, and fraud prevention teams to define technical requirements and deliver features across sprint lifecycles.
• Maintain engineering standards for system resiliency, CI/CD automation, observability, and test coverage across distributed environments.
• Triage, debug, and resolve complex, time-critical production incidents with end-to-end technical ownership.
• Leverage AI-assisted development techniques to translate design specs into implementations, accelerate automated test creation, and optimize troubleshooting workflows while rigorously verifying all code against internal quality and security baselines.
• Mentor team members through collaborative design reviews, disciplined code reviews, and shared technical standards.
