Job Title: Automotive Product Engineer

Location: Rochester Hills, MI

Duration: Full Time / Direct Hire

Direct Client Needs

Technical Responsibilities & Experience

RFQ Decomposition & Technical Translation

  • Technical Requirement Analysis: Direct experience taking raw Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) RFQ packages and successfully decomposing them into actionable technical specifications, initial Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawing requirements, and validation targets.

Product & Project Engineering

  • Automotive Tier-1 Expertise: Minimum of 2 years of direct experience as a Product or Project Engineer within a Tier-1 automotive supplier environment, with a specific focus on moving mechanical assemblies.

Mechanical Design & CAD Direction

  • CAD & Design Assurance: 2 years of mechanical CAD experience with a proven ability to conduct thorough design reviews, verify GD&T, and perform rigorous tolerance stack-up analyses.
  • Design Team Leadership: Demonstrated capability to direct internal CAD designers on the creation, refinement, and execution of complex 3D models and 2D engineering drawings.

Validation & Testing Ownership

  • DVP&R Management: Proven ability to independently own, maintain, and update the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R).
  • Test Standard Mapping: Skilled at mapping complex OEM customer test standards into highly structured, comprehensive component-level validation plans.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct experience as a Product or Project Engineer at a Tier-1 automotive supplier, specifically working on moving mechanical assemblies.
  • 2 years of mechanical CAD experience, including the ability to perform design reviews, check GD&T/tolerance stack-ups, and direct internal CAD designers on 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Experience taking raw OEM RFQ packages and decomposing them into technical specifications, initial Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawing requirements, and validation targets.
  • Proven ability to independently own and update a DVP&R by mapping OEM customer test standards into a structured component validation plan.
