Job Description

About the Role

We're currently working with an ASX top 50 organisation who are looking for an Automation Test Engineer to join their Melbourne office on an initial 6-month contract. You will be tasked with leading the automation efforts in terms of plans around framework & tool selection, collaboration & execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for web, mobile, and API applications.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless and repeatable quality checks.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects through their lifecycle, collaborating with developers for timely resolution.
  • Perform regression, functional, performance, and integration testing across various environments.
  • Analyze test results and provide clear, actionable feedback to development and product teams.
  • Participate in requirement reviews and provide input on testability, coverage, and potential edge cases.
  • Continuously enhance automation frameworks, tools, and processes to improve test coverage and efficiency.
  • Contribute to QA best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-5 years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on automation.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, C#).
  • Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, TestNG, JUnit, or similar.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, REST Assured).
  • Understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, QA methodologies, and SDLC processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with performance or load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
  • Exposure to containerization and cloud platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
