Job Description

Position: Wireless Telecommunications Design Project Lead

Location: Anywhere in the U.S. (Remote/Hybrid)

  • Hybrid: Candidates living within 50 miles of a company office are required to work onsite 2 days per week.
  • Remote: Candidates living outside the 50-mile radius are eligible for remote work.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Wireless Telecommunications Design Project Lead to lead the design and delivery of wireless communication systems for mission-critical data center projects. The role involves managing the complete design lifecycle, providing technical leadership, coordinating with internal teams and clients, and ensuring successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design wireless telecommunications systems for data center facilities.
  • Lead projects from concept through final design and documentation.
  • Design systems using iBwave and EDX.
  • Coordinate with BIM designers to develop drawing packages.
  • Develop and modify Division 27 (DIV 27) specifications.
  • Coordinate with AHJs, Radio System Owners, Wireless Carriers, and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits and review technical documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules and deliverables.
  • Design and support:
    • Commercial DAS
    • Public Safety DAS
    • Land Mobile Radio (LMR)
    • Site Radio
    • RoIP
    • Wi-Fi
    • Tower Studies

Required Qualifications

  • Associate''s or Technical Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing wireless telecommunications systems.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Commercial DAS
    • Public Safety DAS
    • LMR / Site Radio / RoIP
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or similar wireless modeling tools.
  • Experience working directly with clients to identify wireless communication requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting wireless communication systems in the field.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Noise Floor
    • SNIR
    • Return Loss
    • VSWR
  • Experience optimizing wireless networks during design and installation.
  • Knowledge of:
    • NFPA 72, NFPA 1221 & NFPA 1225
    • IFC Section 510
    • Carrier KPIs
    • IBC
    • FCC Part 20 & Part 90
    • FCC OET Bulletin 65
    • Motorola MOTOTRBO
    • Motorola R56 Standards
    • DMR Tier III
  • Familiarity with Navisworks.
  • Experience creating project budgets, schedules, and responding to RFPs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Required Certification

  • Active iBwave Level 2 Certification (Mandatory)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wi-Fi system design experience.
  • EDX or Motorola Design Certifications.
  • FCC GROL.
  • NICET Design Certification.
  • Multiple OEM Certifications.
  • Bachelor''s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering.
  • EIT or PE License.

Client Requirements (Must Have)

  • Active iBwave Level 2 Certification.
  • Experience with IFR, IFP, and IFC design workflow processes.
  • Must disclose any existing non-compete agreements.
