VDI Engineer

Description
We are looking for an experienced VDI Engineer to support and enhance cloud and virtual desktop environments for a contract to hire opportunity in Austin, Texas. This role is ideal for someone who brings deep technical knowledge across Azure, Citrix, Nutanix, and VDI platforms, and who can translate infrastructure needs into reliable, scalable solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams to improve performance, strengthen platform stability, and support ongoing cloud engineering initiatives. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx. You must currently reside in the Austin Metropolitan area to be considered.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain cloud and virtual desktop infrastructure solutions that support business and technical requirements. Administer and optimize Microsoft Azure environments to improve availability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Manage Citrix and VDI platforms, ensuring consistent end-user performance and dependable access to virtual resources. Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration tasks, streamline provisioning, and reduce manual effort.

Support Nutanix-based infrastructure by monitoring health, resolving issues, and contributing to platform improvements. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and virtualization issues across cloud, desktop, and hybrid environments. Partner with cross-functional teams to plan, test, and deploy infrastructure changes in a controlled and reliable manner. Document technical configurations, support procedures, and engineering standards to promote operational consistency. Requirements
8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a closely related technical role.

Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure in enterprise-scale environments. Strong experience administering Citrix and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure platforms. Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation, configuration, and operational support. Practical experience working with Nutanix infrastructure and virtualization technologies. Solid understanding of cloud architecture, system performance tuning, and infrastructure troubleshooting. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and business stakeholders. Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.
