Job Description

Job Title: DevOps Architect

Location: Atlanta, GA

Duration: Full Time

Job Description:

  • Own the cloud and hybrid infrastructure strategy, target architecture, service roadmaps, capacity plans, lifecycle standards, and investment priorities.
  • Provide architecture governance across compute, storage, identity, networking, databases, observability, backup, disaster recovery, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Ensure infrastructure decisions support business growth, AI/ML workloads, client delivery, security, scalability, reliability, compliance, and cost objectives.
  • Govern cloud provisioning, configuration, monitoring, logging, IAM, load balancing, resource tagging, capacity management, and cost optimization.
  • Oversee Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation, containers, and orchestration using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Client Cloud Infrastructure

  • Lead deployments into client environments that does not fully own or control, translating client requirements into secure, repeatable, and supportable architectures.
  • Serve as the senior technical counterpart and escalation point for client infrastructure teams, building trust through credible design, reliable delivery, clear ownership, and transparent communication.
  • Coordinate connectivity, identity, security, data movement, deployment readiness, operational responsibilities, support processes, and client data isolation.

AI/ML and GPU Infrastructure

  • Oversee the on-premises GPU cluster, including provisioning, capacity, hardware lifecycle, drivers, scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resilient connectivity.
  • Partner with AI/ML and product engineering teams to translate workload, model-serving, data-pipeline, and performance requirements into scalable infrastructure.
  • Establish operational standards for GPU scheduling, orchestration, monitoring, and support.

Reliability, Security, and Core Infrastructure

  • Establish monitoring, alerting, incident response, problem management, root-cause analysis, preventive action, and service measures for availability, performance, capacity, backup, and recovery readiness.
  • Lead the response and executive escalation process for major infrastructure incidents, including timely stakeholder communication and documented corrective actions.
  • Oversee VPNs, VPCs, VNets, firewalls, routing, segmentation, private connectivity, IAM, Active Directory, Group Policy, and application access.
  • Ensure effective administration of Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft SQL Server, RDP-based systems, database availability and performance, backup and recovery, and mixed-platform integration.
  • Own the disaster recovery strategy, documented recovery procedures, testing, escalation readiness, and continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Service Ownership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Cloud DevOps Administrator and Cloud Support Specialist.
  • Define service ownership, operating procedures, escalation paths, on-call expectations, performance measures, cross-training, and coverage for critical services.
  • Create a coordinated operating model spanning cloud administration, DevOps, site reliability, forward deployment, Windows and Linux operations, databases, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Communicate service health, significant incidents, roadmap progress, resource needs, risks, and cost considerations to technical and business stakeholders.

Governance, Documentation, Compliance, and Cost

  • Maintain current architecture diagrams, configuration records, runbooks, security protocols, access documentation, support procedures, and recovery plans.
  • Establish governance for cloud accounts and subscriptions, approved services, resource standards, tagging, cost allocation, budgets, capacity, and lifecycle management.
  • Support audits, risk reviews, compliance requirements, control testing, evidence collection, access reviews, change management, and architecture decisions.
  • Identify and execute cost-optimization opportunities while protecting service quality, security, performance, and business continuity.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability, including experience leading technical professionals or services.
  • Demonstrated success establishing service ownership, operating standards, accountability, cross-training, and support coverage.
  • Deep cloud infrastructure experience with strong working knowledge of networking, identity, compute, storage, security, monitoring, and cost management.
  • Experience designing and operating hybrid environments that connect cloud platforms, on-premises infrastructure, and client-managed systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, automation, containers, orchestration, observability, incident management, high availability, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls, private connectivity, segmentation, IAM, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, Linux, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience securing connectivity and data movement across internal, cloud, and external client environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, pragmatic decision-making under ambiguity, and availability for critical-incident escalation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GPU clusters, AI/ML infrastructure, MLOps, workload scheduling, or model-serving platforms.
  • Forward-deployed or embedded delivery experience in client-controlled, multi-tenant, financial-services, audit, or compliance-sensitive environments.
  • Experience with cloud financial operations, capacity planning, vendor management, technology roadmaps, and tools such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, AWS Code Pipeline, AWS Code Build, AWS Step Functions, Docker, Kubernetes, or Slurm.
  • Relevant cloud, security, or infrastructure certifications from Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, or comparable providers.
