SOFTWARE ENGINEER – DATA INFRASTRUCTURE

This is a DIRECT FULL-TIME opportunity.

• Direct full-time employment only. Third-party, vendor, subcontractor, or C2C resources will NOT be considered.
• 5 days per week ON-SITE in New York City is mandatory. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
• Candidates must be based in NYC and able to work on-site every day.

• Target experience: 1–6 years of Software Engineering experience with a strong focus on Python and Data Infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience designing and shipping data ingestion and transformation pipelines is required.
• Strong data modeling fundamentals are required, including schema design, data lineage, and permissions.
• Experience working at an early-stage, venture-backed startup (Pre-Seed through Series D) is required.
• Resume should demonstrate promotion, increasing scope, or increasing responsibility across roles.
• Computer Science or Computer Science + Mathematics degree from a Top 50 school is required.

Project Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer – Data Infrastructure with strong experience in Python, data infrastructure, data pipelines, and data modeling.

The ideal candidate is a software engineer who has built and shipped data infrastructure, rather than someone whose experience is limited to working with data as a secondary part of their role.

This position requires someone who can take ownership of technical initiatives, work independently, and make progress in an environment where requirements may evolve.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship data ingestion pipelines.
• Design and implement data transformation pipelines.
• Develop and maintain data infrastructure using Python.
• Apply strong data modeling principles to production systems.
• Design and work with data schemas.
• Manage and understand data lineage.
• Work with data permissions and access requirements.
• Take ownership of engineering initiatives from development through delivery.
• Work autonomously for extended periods with minimal direction.
• Navigate ambiguity and evolving requirements while maintaining delivery.

Required Qualifications

Software Engineering

• 1–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong focus on Python and data infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience building and shipping production software.

Data Infrastructure

• Hands-on experience designing and shipping:
  • Data ingestion pipelines
  • Data transformation pipelines
  • Data infrastructure
• Strong understanding of:
  • Data modeling
  • Schema design
  • Data lineage
  • Data permissions

Startup Experience

• Experience working at an early-stage, venture-backed startup, ranging from Pre-Seed through Series D.
• Comfortable taking ownership in an environment with changing requirements and limited structure.

Career Progression

Education

• Degree in Computer Science, or
