Job Description

Compliance Officer

Portsmouth Bonus, Shares, Hybrid Working

Have you worked in compliance, quality, audit or a regulated environment and want to develop your career? Would you enjoy researching regulatory requirements, keeping information organised and helping a business improve its processes?

An established engineering manufacturer is looking for a Compliance Officer to support it's growing compliance function. Working directly with the Compliance Manager, you'll help monitor regulatory changes, maintain compliance documentation and coordinate activites across the business.

This is a new position with scope to learn and take on more responsibility as the function develops.

What you'll be doing as Compliance Officer:

  • Monitoring legislation and regulatory changes, including product, enviornmental and sustainability requirements.
  • Researching updates and highlighting information that could affect the business.
  • Maintaining compliance registers, policies, trackers and document libraries, ensuring accurate records and version control.
  • Gathering supplier compliance documentation and following up outstanding information.
  • Supporting risk assessments, internal audits and compliance checks, keeping evidence organised and tracking actions
  • Working with departments across the business to develop procedures, gather information and support compliance training.

What we're looking for from the Compliance Officer:

Your current job title isn't the deciding factor. You could be a Compliance Assistant, Compliance Coordinator, or Regulatory Affairs Assistant, or have relevant experience in quality, risk, audit or document control within a regulated environment.

You'll need:

  • Strong organisational and documentation skills, with close attention to detail
  • The ability to read detailed regulatory information, understand the key points and identify what may be relevant.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working with different departments and following up outstanding actions
  • A proactive, analytical approach and a willingness to learn and suggest improvements.

You don't need a degree or extensive specialist experience for this Compliance Officer role. Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, internal auditing or supplier compliance would be useful, but isn't essential.

We are not able to provide sponsorship for this role, so candidates must have full rights to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship. Candidates currently on a PSW visa, who will need sponsorship when that expires, are not suitable
