Job Description

Bukacek Construction is a third-generation, woman-owned union general contractor based in Racine, Wisconsin, with more than 60 years of experience. We specialize in commercial, industrial, institutional, and life science construction throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead ground-up projects from site mobilization through final completion.

The Superintendent is responsible for the daily management and coordination of assigned construction projects. This individual will lead field operations, coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, enforce safety standards, and ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, quality standards, and budget expectations.

Current projects include a veterinary clinic at the Racine Zoo and an addition at The Prairie School in Wind Point, Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage ground-up construction projects from sitework and foundations through structural construction, finishes, and final turnover.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and three- to six-week look-ahead plans.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries, inspections, and field personnel.
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify potential conflicts and resolve issues before they affect the schedule.
  • Maintain high standards for workmanship, jobsite safety, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Monitor field productivity, labor utilization, and material usage to minimize delays and unnecessary costs.
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, jobsite progress, deliveries, and other project activities.
  • Coordinate inspections, punch lists, and project closeout.
  • 7–10 years of commercial construction experience, including significant ground-up construction experience.
  • Proven experience leading commercial construction projects as a Superintendent or comparable field leader.
  • Strong understanding of sitework, foundations, concrete, structural steel, framing, building envelope, and interior construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead subcontractors, manage field operations, and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety, quality control, and scheduling.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Preferred: Experience with commercial, educational, institutional, or industrial projects; union trades; and projects in the $5 million–$20 million range.

What We Are Looking For

We want a hands-on leader who takes ownership of the jobsite, anticipates problems, and understands the importance of planning, productivity, quality, and profitability.

The ideal candidate earns the respect of subcontractors and field crews, communicates proactively, and takes pride in delivering successful projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications, with company benefits and the opportunity to play an important role in a growing construction organization. Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
