Assistant Designer

We are looking to hire an enthusiastic Assistant Designer to join our boohooMAN team.

Must have a clear understanding of the boohooMAN customer base and support the commercial targets of the brand.

PRODUCT: Product is everything to us and we’re not in the habit of doing anything sub-standard, not now, not ever.

This role will be based out of our central Manchester office.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Main role to assist the design team across all product areas where necessary

• Be the ‘eyes and ears of the brand’

• Responsible for constantly listening and keeping up-to-date with fashion trending messages

• Produce and present extensive research using social media and streetstyle which leads into developments

• Responsible for pulling daily newness, new-in and forecasting reports

• Ensure that research and designs cater for all boohooMANTM customer groups

• Establish new muses, music artists, sports personalities and inspirational social handles

• Manage and co-ordinate administration workloads

• Responsible for sending out, logging and tracking progress of samples

• You will be involved with the design process and work on your own designs

• You will start to get involved with the QC process alongside the senior team, QC and buying

• Learning and understanding the boohooMAN aesthetics and customers

• Assisting with research for seasonal trends including colour, key shapes, detail, catwalk, print and graphics

• Organising and keeping on top of fabric and trim libraries

• Responsible for collating and distributing fabric and trim sourcing packs alongside junior team members

• Complete fast trade reaction reports and newness boards in line with requirements

• Assist the design/product team across all product areas both woven, jersey and non-clothing.

• Assist the design/product team during and in preparation of presentations and meetings.

• Alongside design team members collate business wide trend packs – including mood boards, colour, key shapes, shape updates.

• Ability to produce, modify and ammend tech packs suitable for factory development.

• You will be involved with the design process and work on your own designs

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

• Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop skills - Confident CAD skills

• Strong team player and inspiring communicator

• Ability to work well in a fast paced and creative environment

• Flexibility to travel

• Confidence in garment design and construction

• Excellent eye for detail

• Understanding of fabric qualities and colour

• Excellent communication and presentation skills

• Team player - Has a sense of humour!
