Company / Project Overview :

Client is a specialty chemicals manufacturer building out its Digital Transformation & Technology (DTT) organization to modernize its enterprise technology, SAP S/4HANA environment, data platforms, and manufacturing operations.

The organization is developing modern Data Lakes and enterprise data platforms to improve analytics, integration, and overall business transformation. This SAP role sits within the Enterprise Platforms team and will be a critical functional owner for the company's manufacturing and Supply Chain planning processes.

This is not primarily a Procurement/MM role. The team is specifically seeking someone whose core SAP expertise is centered on Production Planning, Supply/Demand Planning, MRP, manufacturing planning, and production execution.

Role Summary

Client is seeking a seasoned SAP Supply Chain / Production Planning Solution Architect to own SAP S/4HANA solutions supporting end-to-end manufacturing planning and execution.

The ideal candidate will have deep functional expertise across SAP PP, Production Planning, MRP, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, manufacturing planning, settlement, inventory, and related PP/MM processes.

This individual will serve as a senior functional architect/product owner responsible for both BUILD and RUN, including post-S/4HANA stabilization, solution design, root-cause analysis, production support, governance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary SAP functional owner for Production Planning and Manufacturing Planning processes.
Own SAP S/4HANA capabilities across PP, MRP, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Inventory Management, and PP/MM integration.
Lead and optimize end-to-end manufacturing processes including MTS/MTO, BOMs, routings/recipes, work centers/resources, production versions, capacity planning, production execution, and settlement.
Stabilize MRP and planning behavior, including planning exceptions, supply/demand imbalances, ATP issues, scheduling problems, inventory discrepancies, and master-data-related issues.
Partner directly with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Plant leadership, and Super Users.
Translate manufacturing and planning challenges into scalable SAP S/4HANA solutions.
Own both BUILD and RUN, including configuration, enhancements, production support, incident/problem management, upgrades, and continuous improvement.
Perform deep root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions rather than short-term workarounds.
Ensure planning runs, batch jobs, interfaces, and manufacturing integration points execute reliably.
Govern SAP configuration, transports, functional designs, and architectural decisions.
Promote SAP Clean Core principles and standard S/4HANA functionality.
Partner with AMS providers, offshore resources, system integrators, and technical teams.
Support SOX controls, audit requirements, inventory integrity, and manufacturing process controls.
Improve planning accuracy, production reliability, inventory turns, service levels, and planner effectiveness.
Support future SAP roadmap initiatives and technologies including Ariba, Signavio, Joule AI, LeanIX, and other SAP applications.
Develop documentation, functional playbooks, training, and operating procedures for business and Super Users.

Required Experience

10+ years of hands-on SAP Supply Chain / Manufacturing experience.
Deep hands-on expertise with SAP Production Planning (PP).
Strong SAP S/4HANA implementation, stabilization, and production support experience.
Deep understanding of MRP / Material Requirements Planning.
Strong Supply Planning and Demand Planning experience.
Strong understanding of end-to-end manufacturing planning and production processes.
Experience with production settlement and manufacturing-related financial integration.
Experience with BOMs, Routings/Master Recipes, Work Centers/Resources, Production Versions, Capacity Planning, Production Orders/Process Orders, and Shop Floor/Production Execution.
Strong understanding of Material Master and planning-related master data.
Experience integrating PP with MM, Inventory Management, Finance/CO, and other Supply Chain functions.
Proven BUILD/RUN and post-go-live stabilization experience.
Strong incident, problem management, and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
Ability to operate as a senior Solution Architect / Functional Architect / Product Owner, not simply a support consultant.
Excellent business-facing communication and ability to work directly with manufacturing and Supply Chain leadership.

Highly Preferred

Chemical manufacturing experience.
Process manufacturing / PP-PI experience.
Manufacturing, automotive, industrial, pharmaceutical, food/beverage, or other complex production environments.
SAP IBP, APO, PP/DS, or advanced planning experience.
SAP S/4HANA certifications in PP or related Supply Chain areas.
Experience working with offshore AMS teams and systems integrators.
SOX-controlled or regulated environment experience.
Enterprise architecture/governance experience.
