Job Description

Position: Microsoft Purview / Data Governance Lead
Location: Remote
 
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Microsoft Purview / Data Governance Lead with strong experience in data governance, data management, and Microsoft Purview. The candidate will lead data governance initiatives, work with business and technical teams, and help establish effective policies and standards for managing enterprise data.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and implement data governance initiatives across the organization.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Purview for data cataloging, discovery, classification, and governance.
  • Define and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Manage data catalogs, business glossary, data classification, and data lineage.
  • Work with Data Owners, Data Stewards, business teams, and technical teams to improve data quality and governance.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability processes.
  • Support data discovery and understanding across cloud and on-premises data sources.
  • Monitor governance adoption and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to teams on data governance best practices.
  • Prepare documentation, governance frameworks, and process guidelines.
  • Communicate with business stakeholders and lead governance discussions and workshops.
Required Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance and Data Management.
  • Experience with Data Catalog, Data Classification, Data Lineage, and Business Glossary.
  • Experience working with Data Owners and Data Stewards.
  • Knowledge of data quality, metadata management, and data security concepts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead data governance initiatives independently.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure data services is preferred.
Preferred:
  • Experience leading enterprise-level Data Governance programs.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or other Microsoft data platforms.
  • Experience developing data governance frameworks and operating models.
  • Microsoft Purview or relevant Microsoft/Azure certifications are a plus.
