Industrial Connectivity Specialist (IIOT/MQTT, OPC UA, BACnet, plant-floor controls)

Job Role: Industrial Connectivity & Data Platform Specialist

Location: Hybrid onsite 4 days a week at 6035 Parkland Blvd Mayfield Heights, OH 44124. Relocation is acceptable and a package is provided for this position.

Job Description:

Core Focus Areas

o Strong background in IoT / Manufacturing Systems (priority)

o Working knowledge of data architecture & data movement (ETL, messaging)

Technical Skills

o Experience with industrial connectivity protocols:

MQTT, OPC UA, BACnet, plant-floor controls

o Exposure to Azure IoT / Event Hub + cloud-hosted data platforms

o Familiarity with SCADA systems (Ignition preferred)

o Understanding of Unified Namespace (UNS) concepts and message structures

Architecture & Integration

o Ability to help define data connectivity architecture across plants

o Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and integration layers

o Knowledge of MES, OEE, EAM/CMMS systems is beneficial

Functional / Soft Skills

o Able to interface with leadership and sell technical concepts internally

o Comfortable working with and guiding offshore development teams

o Not required to be a heavy developer, but must:

understand/debug code

communicate effectively with developers

Experience Profile

o ~5 8+ years (technical lead / specialized developer level)

Objective

o Build a standardized industrial data connectivity framework across the enterprise using a Unified Namespace (UNS) approach

Key Initiatives

o Establish data pipelines from machines edge systems enterprise platforms

o Enable real-time visibility of manufacturing and facility data

o Replace fragmented systems with a centralized, scalable architecture

Technology Stack / Approach

o Use Ignition SCADA as a foundational platform

o Implement MQTT-based messaging + UNS structure

o Connect plant systems via standardized protocols

o Leverage Azure + SQL-based backend systems

Proof of Concept

o Build demo/pilot environments showing:

environmental data (HVAC, sensors)

machine/production data dashboards

o Use pilots to drive executive and plant buy-in

Business Impact

o Enable:

real-time production tracking (e.g., day-by-hour app)

predictive / threshold-based maintenance

standardized data reuse across plants

o Long-term goal: scale connectivity across 100+ global plants
