Network Security Engineer / Remote / Firewall

Our client is a large enterprise organization looking for a Network Security Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This fully remote role will focus on network security, firewall security and policy analysis, configuration compliance, vulnerability management, and security risk remediation while supporting EST business hours and collaborating with U.S.-based and offshore teams.
This is a great opportunity for a security professional who enjoys investigating security risks and understanding the "why" behind firewall configurations rather than simply administering devices. You'll have the opportunity to work at an enterprise scale, analyze firewall rules, identify compliance and security gaps, and work directly with multiple technical teams to drive remediation. The role also provides exposure to security automation, GRC, vulnerability management, and AI-driven security reviews.
Contract Duration: Approximately 6 months, budgeted through the end of the year with potential extension into Q1.
Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of Network Security experience
• Hands-on firewall security experience
• Network security configuration and hardening
• VPN and firewall security management
• Firewall rule and configuration analysis
• Configuration compliance and control reviews
• Configuration drift identification and risk remediation
• Vulnerability management
• Security monitoring and threat analysis
• Security risk investigation and remediation
• Security audit support
• Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) experience
• Ability to coordinate remediation across multiple technical teams
• English fluency
• Ability to work EST hours and collaborate with offshore teams

Desired Skills & Experience

• Security automation experience
• AI-assisted or AI-driven security review experience
• Tufin, AlgoSec, FireMon, or Skybox experience
• Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet/FortiGate, Cisco, or similar enterprise firewall experience
• Financial services or banking experience
• Spanish bilingual experience
• Previous Santander experience
