Application Developer with Security Clearance

Rebel Talent Systems is hiring a Mid-Level Application Developer for a DC-area government contractor. You'll support an automation and AI innovation program building tools for federal clients. The work is a retrieval-driven application, so you'll touch it end to end: Python backend, Vue.js interface, and the data underneath. The role is mostly remote, with quarterly in-person check-ins in the DC area. It starts as a contract with a path to full-time conversion.

What you'll do Ship scoped Python backend fixes and REST API integrations using Flask or FastAPI
Improve the Vue.js interface, including answer presentation, citations, tables, and error states
Use SQL and graph queries to validate records, relationships, and financial fields
Trace issues across retrieval, backend responses, and UI rendering
Build regression tests and document expected versus actual results, defects, and limitations
Keep code changes focused, documentation current, and progress updates clear
Support controlled validation and releases, and report against project milestones
Join client meetings, program reviews, and occasional industry events What you bring Active DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from a US-accredited institution
2 to 4 years building applications with Python, SQL, and REST APIs
JavaScript or TypeScript with a modern frontend framework (Vue.js preferred)
Practical experience with data validation and debugging
Git, code reviews, and automated testing, plus the ability to explain and verify your changes
Hands-on use of LLM coding assistants such as Claude Code, ChatGPT, or Codex to investigate code, plan changes, fix bugs, and write tests
Comfort with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Strong written and verbal communication
Willingness to travel occasionally, domestic and international Compensation
$50 to $100/hr depending on experience.
