Location: Plainsboro, NJ (Hybrid - 3 Days/Week Onsite)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Intelligence (BI) SME / Power BI Architect with a strong background in the Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry. This leadership role will be responsible for designing enterprise-scale analytics solutions, driving BI strategy, and leading Power BI modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology stakeholders while delivering scalable reporting and analytics solutions that support commercial operations, patient services, and executive decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

BI Strategy & Architecture

  • Design and architect scalable, enterprise-wide Power BI reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Define BI architecture, semantic models, KPI frameworks, reporting standards, and governance processes.
  • Lead dashboard, data model, and semantic layer design to ensure performance, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Drive migration and modernization initiatives from legacy BI platforms to Power BI.

Stakeholder & Business Engagement

  • Partner with business stakeholders, commercial teams, patient services teams, and IT leadership to gather requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Lead requirement workshops, solution design discussions, and architecture review sessions.
  • Drive executive-level conversations around KPI definitions, reporting strategies, and analytics roadmaps.
  • Present business insights, reporting solutions, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, and best practices guidance to BI development teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering teams working on Snowflake, Azure, Databricks, AWS, or other cloud data platforms.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), deployment pipelines, governance frameworks, and enterprise reporting standards.
  • Establish CI/CD processes and Git-based version control practices for BI solutions.

Innovation & Advisory

  • Recommend innovative BI, AI, and analytics-driven solutions to enhance business decision-making.
  • Support presales activities, including solution estimation, architecture proposals, and client presentations.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate delivery progress, risks, and mitigation plans.

Required Technical Skills

  • Expert-level experience with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and Data Modeling
  • Strong experience designing Tabular Models and Semantic Layers
  • Advanced SQL expertise
  • Experience with Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, or similar cloud data platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI Service Administration and Governance
  • Experience with CI/CD, Deployment Pipelines, and Git Integration
  • Strong understanding of Data Warehousing and Dimensional Modeling
  • Experience with AI-enabled analytics solutions such as Power BI Copilot, Microsoft Fabric AI, or Generative AI integrations is highly preferred

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data Architecture
  • Proven leadership experience managing enterprise BI initiatives and stakeholder engagement
  • Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences industry experience is mandatory
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage executive stakeholders
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale BI transformation programs

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Local to New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania
  • Strong consulting and client-facing experience
  • Ability to serve as a trusted advisor to both business and technology leaders
  • Experience supporting commercial, sales, patient services, and executive reporting functions within the pharmaceutical industry
