Job description

Business Development Manager

South East England 45,000 - 55,000 Basic + Bonus (Up to 20%) + Company Car

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a leading wholesale distribution business in the appointment of a Business Development Manager to cover the South East.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven new business professional to join a well-established and growing organisation with ambitious plans across the foodservice sector. The business is looking to strengthen its presence across key end-user markets including private schools, independent colleges, bakery chains, football stadia, arenas, visitor attractions and leisure operators.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Sales, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across the South East region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prospecting and developing new customer relationships across targeted foodservice end-user accounts.
  • Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities.
  • Securing appointments and presenting tailored solutions to prospective customers.
  • Managing the full sales cycle from lead generation through to close.
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Delivering against agreed sales and growth objectives.
  • Representing the business at customer meetings, industry events and trade shows.

This is a field-based role and will require regular travel across the territory, including overnight stays.

About You

We're looking for a highly motivated new business salesperson with a proven track record of winning and developing accounts within the foodservice sector.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience selling into foodservice end-user markets.
  • Existing relationships within sectors such as education, leisure, visitor attractions, bakery groups, stadia, arenas or catering operations.
  • A strong track record of self-generating opportunities and closing new business.
  • Excellent objection-handling, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to work autonomously.

Particular interest will be given to candidates from foodservice, wholesale and route-to-market sales environments, including individuals from businesses such as Brakes, Bidfood or similar organisations supplying into these customer groups.

If you're a commercially driven sales professional who thrives on opening doors, building relationships and winning new business, we'd love to hear from you.
