Job Description

About Welbeck Cambridge

Welbeck Cambridge is a state-of-the-art private day-case centre created to deliver exceptional healthcare in an environment designed around the needs of patients and clinicians alike. As part of the wider Welbeck Health Partners network, the centre provides diagnostics, outpatient services and day-case procedures across a range of specialties, combining clinical excellence with outstanding service.

At Welbeck, we believe healthcare should be seamless, reassuring and genuinely patient-centred. Every interaction matters, and we're committed to creating an experience that is efficient, professional and welcoming from the very first enquiry through to treatment and beyond.

As our services continue to grow, we're looking for passionate and talented people who share our ambition to raise standards and help redefine the private healthcare experience.

About the Role

As a Children & Young People Nurse at Welbeck Cambridge, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, child and family-centred care across the outpatient and surgical pathway. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll provide expert nursing care to children and young people, supporting them from initial assessment through to treatment, discharge, and follow-up. You'll be passionate about delivering safe, compassionate care while ensuring every child and family receives a positive and supportive experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with service development, education, and leadership responsibilities. You'll act as an advocate for children and young people, provide specialist advice to colleagues and families, and help embed paediatric best practice across the wider centre. Working closely with consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and operational teams, you'll contribute to the continual development of safe, effective, and outstanding patient care

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver high-quality, family-centred nursing care to children and young people throughout their outpatient and surgical journey.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate outcomes to ensure safe and effective patient care.

  • Undertake nurse-led services, including paediatric pre-assessments and specialist clinics where appropriate.

  • Provide expert advice, education, and support to children, young people, families, and healthcare colleagues.

  • Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients and emergency situations, escalating concerns when required.

  • Collaborate with consultants, theatre teams, allied health professionals, and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to support seamless patient care.

  • Act as a paediatric resource across the centre, supporting staff development, competency building, and service improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to audits, quality improvement programmes, and the ongoing development of services for children and young people.

About You

You'll be an NMC Registered Children's Nurse with experience delivering high-quality care within surgical, day unit, or paediatric environments. Passionate about advocating for children and young people, you'll possess excellent assessment, communication, and clinical decision-making skills, enabling you to provide safe, evidence-based care while supporting families through every stage of their healthcare journey.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates strong organisational skills, and remains calm and professional when managing competing priorities. You'll be committed to ongoing professional development, safeguarding best practices, and maintaining the highest standards of patient care. Most importantly, you'll embody Welbeck's values of Collaboration, Ambition, Kindness, and Empowerment in everything you do.
