Job description

Join our team as the Senior Accountant – Manufacturing Operations and take full ownership of plant-level cost accounting, financial reporting, and operational analysis at a well-established manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Controller, you will lead month-end close, drive variance analysis and standard costing, and deliver the financial insight that supports cost reduction, margin improvement, and stronger plant performance.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 3 to 5 years of progressive experience who has a foundation in manufacturing finance or a strong GL close background and wants to take on meaningful ownership in a stable, team-oriented environment, as well as real opportunity to grow within a company that actively develops its people.

Senior Accountant – Manufacturing Operations | What You Will Do

  • Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain product cost accuracy within a standard cost environment and support the annual standard cost roll, including validation of bills of material, routings, labor rates, and overhead rates
  • Analyze and explain manufacturing variances including PPV, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap, and shipping, and present root cause findings to plant leadership
  • Partner with the plant manager, production managers, supply chain, and sourcing teams to build annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and S&OP inputs
  • Monitor inventory transactions and valuation and support cycle counts, physical inventories, and reserve analysis
  • Develop and improve KPIs that give plant leadership real-time visibility into operational and financial performance
  • Lead process improvement efforts across close, costing, and reporting workflows, and mentor junior accounting team members

Senior Accountant – Manufacturing Operations | What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP and the full month-end close cycle
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
  • Ability to communicate financial results clearly to non-finance partners including operations and plant management
  • Preferred: Experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cost accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
  • Preferred: ERP experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable system; familiarity with OneStream or similar reporting tools is a plus

Senior Accountant – Manufacturing Operations | The Perks

  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance
  • Employee stock purchase program
