About the Role

Uber Freight Engineering & Procurement partners with enterprise Transportation Management (TM) clients to solve complex supply chain challenges and execute strategic sourcing initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the Procurement Engineering Lead for our Greensboro Center of Excellence (COE), directing fast-paced, high-impact sourcing initiatives across key 4PL accounts.

Sitting at the intersection of client engagement, analytics, and operational execution, you will oversee a portfolio of approximately 30 annual procurement events representing ~$650M in transportation spend and 1.5M annual shipments. In addition to leading complex project execution, you will manage, coach, and scale a team of Logistics Engineers, optimizing team capacity, standardizing analytical workflows, and driving cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Carrier Management, Strategy, and enterprise TM Customers.

What You Will Do

Project Management & Sourcing Strategy

  • Direct end-to-end 12-week procurement and sourcing cycles from initial project scoping through post-implementation reviews for high-visibility TM accounts.
  • Analyze complex TMS datasets, design and configure JAGGAER ASO procurement events, run advanced optimization scenarios, and set up constraint models balancing cost, service reliability, and lead time.
  • Host regular executive updates with key client and internal stakeholders, lead route guide optimization and network design workshops, and manage rate/SRG template uploads.
  • Collaborate closely with 3PL, brokerage, and carrier management teams to strategically position network opportunities during active sourcing events.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Directly lead, mentor, and develop a team of Logistics Engineers, establishing clear goals, managing workload delegation, and conducting regular performance coaching.
  • Oversee team capacity and ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures and data governance frameworks across all procurement activities.
  • Build a collaborative team culture focused on developing technical subject matter experts and future logistics leaders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Analytics

  • Serve as the primary procurement engineering contact and escalation lead for the Greensboro COE account teams.
  • Build and maintain high-impact KPI dashboards, executive reporting frameworks, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models using Excel and Tableau.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Client Engagement, Operations, Carrier Pricing, Contracting, Network Dynamics, Data Science, and Legal to streamline procurement workflows.

Work Setup & Location

  • Location: Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 days remote). Flexible location arrangements will be evaluated based on candidate qualifications.
  • Schedule: Standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), with occasional peak-season operational flexibility.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field (or 4+ years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree).
  • 3+ years of professional experience in procurement operations, sourcing analytics, supply chain engineering, or transportation management.
  • 2+ years of direct operational experience running, configuring, and modeling sourcing events within JAGGAER ASO (Advanced Sourcing Optimizer).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex scenario modeling, nested logic, TCO models) and working knowledge of Tableau, MS Access, or Google Workspace.
  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership, team mentorship, or informal peer management (e.g., project lead, onboarding/coaching junior engineers, leading cross-functional teams).
  • Experience leading customer-facing presentations, stakeholder workshops, and executive-level decision-support discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within a 3PL/4PL transportation management or managed services organization.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in procurement operations, sourcing analytics, supply chain engineering, or transportation management.
  • 4+ years of direct operational experience running, configuring, and modeling sourcing events within JAGGAER ASO (Advanced Sourcing Optimizer).
  • Demonstrated success winning strategic RFPs and driving executive alignment across complex, high-impact customer accounts.
  • Deep knowledge of carrier procurement dynamics, spot vs. contract rate modeling, route guide architecture, and network optimization principles.
