Quick Overview
Job Description
Set in the heart of Melbourne's CBD on Spencer Street, Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer is a stylish 172-room hotel that forms the podium of the iconic Premier Tower. Steps from Southern Cross Station and a short stroll to Marvel Stadium, Southbank, and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the hotel brings world-class Swiss hospitality and a genuine love of the good life to one of the city's most connected addresses.
The hotel’s stylish rooms and suites are designed to blend art and comfort, featuring abstract works by local Melbourne photographers, plush bedding, rain showers, and premium amenities. The award-winning Miss Mi Restaurant & Bar serves modern Asian cuisine for lunch and dinner, while Mövenpick Café on Spencer is the ultimate spot for tasting Mövenpick’s world-famous ice cream, premium coffee, or a sweet treat. Guests can unwind in the heated outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, or stay active in the 24-hour gym, while the hotel's modern function spaces are ready to host memorable meetings and boutique celebrations.
True to its Mövenpick heritage, the hotel believes in indulgence done right : delicious food, abundant treats, and flavours that are unmistakably Mövenpick, all served with a generous portion of heartfelt care. The world-famous daily Chocolate Hour , featuring complimentary handmade sweet treats, is a signature moment that keeps the experience sweet and extraordinary from check-in to check-out.
We are seeking an accomplished, dynamic, and inspiring General Manager to lead Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer. As General Manager, you will take full ownership of the hotel’s operational excellence, commercial performance, guest experience, and team culture.
Working closely with the asset ownership group and Accor’s regional leadership, you will provide strategic direction across all hotel functions, inspire and develop a diverse team of Heartists, and ensure the delivery of strong financial results while bringing the Mövenpick brand values to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial & Commercial Drive: Take full accountability for the hotel's business plan, maximizing top-line revenue, yield, and profitability across Rooms and F&B.
- Operational & Brand Excellence: Oversee daily operations, ensuring premium service standards and unique brand moments—like our signature Chocolate Hour—are executed flawlessly.
- Lead & Inspire Heartists: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive, highly engaged culture with clear career development paths.
- Stakeholder & Owner Relations: Build trusted, transparent, and collaborative partnerships with asset owners, corporate regional teams, and local partners.
- Asset & Quality Management: Protect the property asset through disciplined maintenance, capital planning, risk management, and continuous, data-driven service improvements.
A qualification in hotel management, hospitality management, commerce or business administration would be highly regarded.
About You:
- Proven Premium Experience: Successful track record as a General Manager or senior hotel leader, with strong exposure to upscale rooms and high-volume F&B operations.
- Commercially & Financially Astute: Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and driving GOP in a highly competitive CBD market.
- People-First Leader: An inspiring coach who is passionate about talent development, employee engagement, and building a positive, collaborative workplace.
- Exceptional Relationship Builder: Mature and credible stakeholder manager, comfortable navigating complex owner relationships (HMA) with transparency.
- Entrepreneurial & Brand-Focused: Detail-orientated with a creative mindset to activate F&B concepts, drive local marketing, and deliver unique guest experiences.
- Must hold full Australian working rights.
