Job Description

Azure Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to join a team delivering a major transformation of its technology and IT infrastructure across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments.

You will play a key role in designing, implementing and supporting secure, scalable Azure platforms, working closely with DevOps and development teams to deliver reusable cloud solutions and best-practice engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and support Azure infrastructure across private and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Build and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and ideally, Ansible .
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions .
  • Manage containerised workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, AKS and Helm .
  • Implement automation using Python, Bash and/or PowerShell .
  • Design and support Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, NSGs, VPNs, Firewalls and ExpressRoute .
  • Implement cloud security, identity, monitoring, high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and support production environments.
  • Promote cloud cost optimisation, DevOps and good engineering practices.
  • Work with technical and business stakeholders to ensure solutions align with architecture and security standards.

Essential Experience

  • 3+ years' hands-on Azure infrastructure experience .
  • Strong understanding of Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, Well-Architected Framework and Landing Zones.
  • Proven experience with Terraform, Kubernetes/AKS, Docker and Helm .
  • Experience working in private, hybrid or enterprise cloud environments .
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking and security.
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions and CI/CD .
  • Knowledge of Entra ID, SAML and identity/access management .
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana or Elasticsearch .
  • Strong Scripting skills in Python, Bash and/or PowerShell .
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and documentation skills.

Desirable

  • Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert .
  • Experience with Ansible, GitOps, policy-as-code and infrastructure testing .
  • Experience with Azure services including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks and App Services .
  • Agile and DevOps experience.
  • Experience participating in on-call or production support rotations.
  • Understanding of FinOps and cloud cost optimisation .
