POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager / Director of Engineering, the Manufacturing Design Intern will be responsible for performing the duties of the Engineering department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, engineering change requests, estimating and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design and update for new and existing hydraulic products.
2. Use specialized software to create models and drawings of products. Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including time and scope involved.
3. Research new materials and methods of development.
4. Organize and maintain existing engineering records. Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates in relation to customer experience.
5. Construct prototypes and confirm designs with design/purchasing team.
6. Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes.
7. Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards.
8. Generate quote BOM (Bill of Material) and necessary drawings for QR.
9. Generate necessary drawings for new products in a CAD system.
10. Process Change Requests; make necessary changes to drawings, BOM, etc. and write ECN.
11. Work with Quality Assurance and Materials on development of substitute materials. Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of engineering initiatives.
12. Update and maintain JARP Industries engineering specifications and standards.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Currently enrolled in Two-year associate degree or starting school in the related field of engineering.
2. 0-5 years' experience in metal fab, machining and/or hydraulics a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
1. In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
2. Professional work experience reviewing and analyzing prototypes and product modifications.
3. Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes and welding.
4. Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes.
5. Understanding of current cutting tool technology.
6. Impeccable attention to detail.
7. Project development and leadership skills are essential.
8. Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and problem solve effectively.
9. Knowledge of stress and analysis.
10. Familiar with various machining processes.
11. Working knowledge of hydraulics.
12. Computer skills in excel and word.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTING
