Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Lifecycle Management (Functional) to provide functional leadership across the complete Oracle EBS application lifecycle. The ideal candidate will own functional upgrade impact assessment, functional setup migration, business process continuity, functional regression testing, fit-gap analysis, and functional lifecycle planning across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and HR domains.

This is a functional lifecycle ownership role — distinct from technical lifecycle management. The consultant will ensure that EBS upgrades, patches, and migrations preserve and improve business processes, configurations, and functional capabilities — and will work closely with technical, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure stable, secure, and business-aligned management of Oracle EBS environments throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Lifecycle Management

• Provide senior-level functional SME expertise for Oracle EBS lifecycle management across Finance, SCM, Manufacturing, and HR modules.

• Define and support functional lifecycle strategies, standards, and best practices for EBS upgrades, patching, and migrations.

• Own the functional impact assessment for EBS upgrades, patches, quarterly updates, and critical fixes.

• Assess how upgrades and patches affect business processes, configurations, setups, personalizations, and customizations.

• Lead functional fit-gap analysis for upgrades — decide what to adopt, retire, or re-customize functionally.

• Develop and maintain functional lifecycle roadmaps aligned to business strategy and Oracle product evolution.

• Coordinate with Oracle Support and functional/technical teams for complex lifecycle-related requirements.

Functional Setup & Configuration Management

• Own functional setup migration across Development, Test, QA, UAT, CRP, ACRP, DR, and Production environments.

• Manage functional configuration management: flexfields (DFF/KFF), profile options, responsibilities, menus, value sets, lookups, concurrent programs, request groups, request sets, security rules, cross-validation rules, document sequences, multi-org setup.

• Validate functional setup integrity after cloning, refresh, patching, and upgrades.

• Ensure functional configuration alignment across environments (Dev → Test → QA → UAT → Prod).

• Manage functional change management: assess functional impact of changes, new features, deprecations, and regulatory updates.

Business Process Continuity & Functional Regression

• Ensure business process continuity across the lifecycle — Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Record-to-Report (R2R), Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.

• Define and execute functional regression test scenarios for business cycles after patching, upgrades, and code changes.

• Design functional test plans, test scope documents, and test cases for Unit Testing (UT), Functional Integration Testing (FIT), System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Lead CRP (Conference Room Pilot) cycles for functional validation.

• Coordinate UAT with business users — define scenarios, execute, document, and obtain business sign-off.

• Validate functional data migration and conversion — data mapping, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation.

Functional Architecture & Governance

• Review EBS functional architecture and recommend improvements for business process efficiency, usability, and maintainability.

• Analyze functional lifecycle risks, dependencies, compatibility, and business impacts before upgrades or major changes.

• Establish functional governance frameworks — standards, reusable patterns, design templates, and functional design reviews.

• Provide guidance on functional roadmap alignment with business strategy and process evolution.

• Support release management, change management, and deployment planning from a functional perspective.

Functional Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Prepare and maintain functional design documents (FDD) and AIM documents: BR030, BR100, MD050, RD020, RD030, TE030, TE040, TE050, TE130, CV040, CV060.

• Develop functional lifecycle plans, upgrade/patching impact assessments, and operational procedures.

• Author functional test scripts, UAT scenarios, and business readiness documentation.

• Prepare functional training materials and user guides for business users and super users.

• Mentor functional and techno-functional teams; provide knowledge transfer as required.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with business users, process owners, functional teams, technical teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors.

• Translate business requirements into functional designs and lifecycle impacts.

• Communicate functional lifecycle risks, recommendations, and business impacts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Finance, SCM, Manufacturing, HR, and Projects.

Required Skills & Experience

Core EBS Functional Lifecycle Experience

• 10+ years of experience working with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) as a functional consultant, functional analyst, or functional lead.

• Strong expertise in Oracle EBS Functional Lifecycle Management — functional upgrade impact, setup migration, business process continuity, functional regression, fit-gap.

• Extensive experience with Oracle EBS R12/R12.2 — functional configuration and lifecycle support.

• Hands-on experience with EBS upgrades, patching, and migrations from a functional perspective — functional impact assessment, setup migration, functional regression, CRP, UAT.

• Functional module depth across one or more of:

  • Financials: GL, AP, AR, CE, FA, IBY, SLA, E-Business Tax

  • Supply Chain: OM, PO, INV, BOM, WIP, WMS, ASCP, MRP, Demand Planning, Costing, Advance Pricing, i-Procurement, Procurement Contracts, i-Supplier

  • Manufacturing: Discrete Manufacturing, Process Manufacturing, MES, Shop Floor, Work Definitions, Routings

  • HRMS: Core HR, Payroll, Absence, OTL, Benefits, Self-Service HR

  • Projects: PA, Project Billing, Project Costing

  • CRM: Install Base, Service Contracts, Telesales, Quoting, Field Sales

• Month-end / period-close support — AR aging, GL balances, accrual analysis, reconciliation.

• Interface & integration troubleshooting — functional validation of interfaces, conversions, and integrations.

• Experience working with distributed/global teams in a remote environment.

• Ability to translate business requirements into functional designs and lifecycle impacts.

• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams across Finance, SCM, Manufacturing, HR, Projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Oracle EBS R12/R12.2 certifications are a plus.

• Experience with Oracle Cloud/Fusion Cloud (functional SCM, Financials, HCM) is desirable.

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Oracle environments.

• Knowledge of EDI / e-Commerce Gateway (810, 823, 832, 840, 843, 846, 850, 852, 855, 856, 860) is a plus.

• Knowledge of Supplier Lifecycle Management (Supplier Data Hub, de-duplication, data enrichment, registration, qualification, compliance, performance) is a plus.

• Experience with Agile/Scrum/SDLC methodologies.

• Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticketing tools.
