Development Engineer

Join a hands-on backend engineering team building and supporting scalable services for a modern platform that powers API capabilities, file processing, real-time events, and file transfer workflows. This onsite opportunity in Brooklyn Park, MN is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across teams, and delivering reliable production systems in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy production-ready backend services
• Develop and support API platform capabilities, including REST and GraphQL services
• Create solutions for large-scale data processing, batch workflows, and large file handling
• Build event-driven applications using Kafka
• Implement and improve caching solutions to enhance performance and scalability
• Partner with product, infrastructure, security, and engineering teams to deliver solutions in an Agile setting
• Support platform reliability, maintainability, and ongoing enhancements in a production environment

Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Micronaut
• Experience with Kotlin and Java, including Spring Boot
• Proven background building and supporting APIs and GraphQL services
• Practical experience with Kafka and PostgreSQL
• Production experience with large-scale data, file, and batch processing
• Experience implementing caching strategies in production systems
• Strong automated testing practices and Agile development experience
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot

Preferred Skills

• Experience developing production-ready AI agents
• Background in conversational AI for customer or guest service use cases
• Experience integrating AI or LLM capabilities into enterprise applications
• Experience building software in PCI-compliant environments
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment
