Senior Solutions Architect (Hands-On) – AWS Enterprise Solutions with Security Clearance

Architects who still write code: this one's for you. Linchpin Software is looking for a hands-on Senior Solutions Architect to design and deliver enterprise solutions on AWS. You'll set the vision for large, multi-system solutions, then roll up your sleeves and help build them. You'll design across a wide range of problems: enterprise services, software APIs, how systems interact and integrate, automated developer platforms, and secure cross-domain data transfers. No two problems look the same, and you'll own the architecture for all of them. This is not a slides-and-diagrams role.

You must be able to plan and lead a large solution AND write production code yourself. One day you're whiteboarding with the customer and earning their trust; the next you're pairing with an engineer, writing the proof of concept, or debugging a deployment. We need someone who does both, and knows when each one is called for. We build software differently. Our team uses AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, GitLab Duo) to prototype and deliver faster, and you'll help shape how we use them.

What You'll Do

• Architect enterprise solutions on AWS, from vision and design through production
• Design enterprise services, software APIs, system integrations, and cross-domain data transfer solutions
• Write code: prototypes, proofs of concept, core components, and infrastructure as code
• Work hands-on with engineers through code reviews, pairing, and troubleshooting
• Lead customer-facing technical engagements and turn mission needs into clear designs
• Set technical direction on quality, security, automation, and scalability Required:
• Active Top Secret clearance
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including solution architecture
• A proven track record of designing AND implementing solutions yourself, not just diagramming them
• Strong coding skills in at least one of Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go
• Deep hands-on AWS experience
• Experience designing APIs and integrating multiple enterprise systems
• Strong communication skills and comfort leading customer conversations
• Ability to work full-time, on-site in Washington, DC (20024) Preferred:
• Cross-domain solutions or multi-classification data movement
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation)
• Microservices, event-driven, and serverless architectures
• AWS Solutions Architect certification (Associate or Professional)
