Job description

Head of Mortgages
Bournemouth / Hampshire £45,000-£50,000 + 20% of generated income

An opportunity to build and lead a growing mortgage division.

We're working with an established St. James's Place Partner Practice, managing over £1bn in client assets, looking for an experienced Mortgage Adviser ready to take the next step beyond a purely advisory role.
You'll have an existing client base to work with, Financial Advisers generating internal referrals and the opportunity to develop new business of your own.
From there, you'll take ownership of the mortgage offering, improve how it operates and, as it grows, build a wider team around you.
What will you be doing?
  • Providing mortgage advice to existing, new and referred clients.
  • Building relationships with Financial Advisers across the practice to maximise internal referrals.
  • Generating new business and developing your own professional network.
  • Taking ownership of the growth and direction of the mortgage division.
  • Reviewing and improving existing systems and processes.
  • Recruiting, training and developing additional team members as the division grows.
  • Maintaining high standards of advice, compliance and client service.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for an experienced Mortgage Adviser who is ready to step into a broader commercial and leadership role.
You'll ideally have:
  • Strong mortgage advice experience and relevant qualifications.
  • A track record of developing client relationships and generating new business.
  • Experience training, mentoring or developing others.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • An interest in improving processes and building a successful department.
  • The confidence to take ownership and make decisions.

Experience within St. James's Place would be beneficial, but isn't essential. The practice is open to advisers from other networks, brokerages and financial planning businesses.
Why consider it?
You won't be starting from scratch.
There's an existing client base, an established source of internal referrals and a business that wants to invest in growing its mortgage offering.
For an experienced Mortgage Adviser who enjoys advising but wants more ownership, greater influence and the opportunity to build and lead a team, it's a genuinely interesting next step.
