Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES OF ROLE:

To ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the wash plant by carrying out planned maintenance, inspections, fault-finding and repairs on mechanical equipment, minimising plant downtime and maintaining production.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and repair wash plant machinery.

  • Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance.

  • Work on conveyors, screens, pumps, crushers and feeders.

  • Replace bearings, rollers, belts, pulleys, chains and other components.

  • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Carry out welding and fabrication work.

  • Fault-find mechanical problems and get machinery back into production quickly.

  • Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of plant equipment.

  • Complete inspections and preventative maintenance.

  • Work safely around heavy machinery and follow site safety procedures.

  • Keep maintenance records and report faults or required repairs.

  • Maintain safe working practices whilst undertaking your duties at all times

  • To act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices highlighting any issues appropriately

  • Work flexibly and be receptive and adaptable to a changing environment within a fast-expanding Company

  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by management

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Proven experience as an Washplant Fitter

  • Relevant mechanical or heavy plant maintenance qualifications

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Full UK driving licence
