Job Description

OT Network Engineer

Location: Norcross, GA (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Travel: Regular travel to client and industrial sites, including occasional overnight and out-of-state travel

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on OT Network Engineer to support industrial and operational technology environments. This role combines network engineering, Windows systems administration, industrial/OT infrastructure, and network security.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and securing industrial networks while supporting systems and technologies used in OT environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot industrial network architectures.
  • Create and maintain network architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Configure and support switches, firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and secure remote access solutions.
  • Troubleshoot switching, spanning tree, high-availability, and resilient network topologies.
  • Support industrial network architectures, including ring topologies and other high-availability designs.
  • Install, configure, harden, and troubleshoot Windows Servers and workstations.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Active Directory and related infrastructure.
  • Support networks and infrastructure surrounding PLC, HMI, and SCADA environments.
  • Troubleshoot communications and connectivity issues across industrial and remote facilities.
  • Configure and support cellular modems and communications for remote industrial sites.
  • Support OT network security, including network segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, secure remote access, and system hardening.
  • Install and configure network and server hardware as needed.
  • Work directly with customers, operators, engineers, and other technical teams to resolve infrastructure and network issues.
  • Travel to industrial and client sites to provide hands-on engineering and technical support.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience in network engineering, including switches, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, segmentation, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience designing and supporting network architectures and creating network diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of spanning tree and high-availability network topologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting switching and network connectivity issues using command-line tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server installation, configuration, hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory and related infrastructure.
  • Meaningful experience supporting OT, industrial, ICS, or industrial control environments.
  • Experience supporting or working around PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Understanding of OT network security, including firewalls, segmentation, secure remote access, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting unfamiliar equipment and communication technologies.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and client-facing skills.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid environment and travel regularly to client and industrial facilities.
  • Comfortable working in a contract-to-hire environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in water or wastewater environments.
  • Experience supporting utilities, power, manufacturing, oil and gas, or other industrial environments.
  • Experience with industrial ring protocols or resilient industrial network designs.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as DLR, MRP, REP, PRP, HSR, or similar protocols.
  • Experience supporting remote facilities, pump stations, lift stations, or similar distributed infrastructure.
  • Experience with cellular communications and remote connectivity solutions.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial automation environments.
