Banking and Capital Markets - Strategy Consultant - Tassell Consulting

A rare chance to work in a fun, start-up type business, supported by a tier 1 strategy major, working on banking strategy cases at the top investment banks! This is a company of 150, with a parent company with very deep pockets.

Salary: 110-140 USD base + 20% average bonus

Location: New York (2-4 days/week in office)

Are you passionate about banking and the markets? Feel a bit constricted at your current workplace or looking for more responsibility or variety in your role?

This job has two key components:

1. Working on strategy case work - recent examples include investor strategy for a major IB, risk strategy for a global IB or portfolio strategy; the latter is looking at how a major IB is performing in all its different asset classes vs. its competitors...and what might they do about it? You'd speak to all the 'Heads of' across the different business units of the bank
2. Helping to run projects for a data and analytics business - the firm owns many proprietary data products and collects and puts out data to its banking clients; this is about servicing those clients; how do they find the data? How might the product be improved? What data could you collect to get a view on X?

We are looking for someone:

1. 2-5 years into their banking career either in front office banking, consulting or another strategy firm
2. Who thrives on working at pace and on intellectually stimulating projects - it doesn't bother you that one project might be concerning an area of banking you know nothing about; you enjoy variety and originality in your job!
3. Who is equally happy in an analytical role as well as a client-facing role - you'll be in front of a lot of senior banking folks in this job; you'll enjoy building trusted relationships
4. Comfortable working with data and querying data; these days with AI, we're not so fussed on hardcore modelling skills - use Claude to do that..
5. Who has their fingers on the pulse of the markets; you'll enjoy looking at the macro picture, staying up to date and being intellectually curious with senior banking leaders talking about their businesses
6. Ideally who has broad markets knowledge, across different IB/markets products or services or who has built this up from their personal reading/knowledge
