Quick overview
Job description
About the Role
Join a small team building satellite and space-based computing systems as its first dedicated electrical and computer engineer. You will take ownership of a satellite flight computer and contribute to the electronics behind orbital AI compute.
What You'll Do
Design and own the flight computer for a satellite mission, with this as the primary focus during your first 90 days.
Build prototypes, bring up hardware, and debug systems hands-on in the Los Angeles lab alongside engineering leadership.
Work with manufacturing partners on electronics and compute systems for a full-scale satellite.
Evaluate high-speed interconnects, including NVLink and SerDes, as well as photonics and optical interconnect options.
Write firmware and platform software for the payload as needed.
What We're Looking For
0 to 15 years of electrical or computer engineering experience, including at least one year in a high-growth startup or comparable 0-to-1 environment.
Experience designing custom boards or system boards end to end, including schematics, high-speed PCB layout, bring-up, and debugging.
Knowledge of high-speed digital design and signal- and power-integrity fundamentals.
A degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience with GPUs, accelerators, SoCs, or large ASICs is valuable, as is familiarity with photonics, silicon photonics, optical interconnects, networking, or space and radiation-hardened hardware.
Experience working with contract manufacturers or original design manufacturers is helpful. Startup experience is expected, including for candidates with aerospace prime contractor or government backgrounds.
Proficiency with relevant tools and technologies such as schematic capture, embedded C/C++, Linux, and Python.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $120,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available. Equity and other benefits were not specified.
Location
On-site, five days per week in Los Angeles, California.
