Job Title: EDI Consultant
Contract Duration: 6 Months (High likelihood of extension)
Location: Remote
Engagement Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
 
Role Summary
We are seeking a mid-to-senior EDI Consultant to provide deeper production support for a critical bill review business. This role sits directly at the operational intersection of business users, third-party bill review vendors, payment processing partners, and internal engineering teams.
The ideal candidate possesses strong business acumen and high-touch communication skills, combined with hands-on technical expertise in SQL, database querying, and troubleshooting multi-format data payloads (EDI, flat files, JSON).
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary technical and operational liaison between internal business stakeholders, external bill review vendors, and payment processing vendors.
  • Triage, investigate, and resolve daily production support issues and data exchange anomalies occurring across bill review and payment pipelines.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on failed or corrupted data flows by inspecting source files and running complex SQL queries against relational databases.
  • Analyze, validate, and debug diverse data interchange payloads, including fixed-width flat files, delimited files, JSON objects, and standard EDI formats.
  • Translate business partner operational needs into clear technical requirement specs and data mapping rules for vendor/development implementation.
Must-Have Technical Qualifications
  • SQL Proficiency: 4+ years of advanced SQL experience. Ability to write complex queries, joins, and scripts to analyze data models and trace data lineage in relational databases.
  • Data Payloads & EDI: Hands-on experience working with, parsing, and troubleshooting multi-format data files (JSON, flat/delimited files, standard EDI transactions).
  • Production Support & Analysis: Strong track record in L2/L3 production support, data integration troubleshooting, and vendor communication.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to bridge non-technical business partners and technical vendor engineering teams.
