Automation Engineer
Quick Overview
Job Description
Location: Fremont, CA or Charlotte, NC (2 days onsite)
Duration: 18 Months
Note: TypeScript coding experience is strictly required.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly technical, code-first Automation Engineer to architect, build, and scale our end-to-end automation frameworks across web, mobile, and API layers. This is not a manual testing or high-level coordination role—you must be an engineer who loves to write code. You will design robust automation architectures, integrate tests seamlessly into our CI/CD pipelines, and push the boundaries of product performance and reliability.
If you view test automation as a software engineering discipline and thrive on writing clean, scalable test suites, we want you on our team.
Core Technical Stack
Primary Languages: TypeScript, with a strong foundation in modern programming practices.
Secondary/Exposure Ecosystems: GoLang, Kotlin, Swift, or Java.
Automation Frameworks: Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG.
Infrastructure & Tools: CI/CD Pipelines, JMeter / LoadRunner, Jira / Bugzilla, Git.
Key Responsibilities
Framework Architecture & Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, robust automation frameworks from scratch across Web UI, Mobile, and Backend API layers.
Full-Stack Automation: Implement end-to-end test strategies spanning UI flows (Cypress/Selenium) and robust backend/API layer integrations (JUnit/TestNG).
CI/CD Integration: Embed automation suites directly into continuous integration and deployment pipelines, ensuring fast, stable feedback loops for development teams.
Performance & Load Testing: Author and execute targeted performance, stress, and scalability tests using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to uncover architectural bottlenecks.
Test Strategy & Planning: Collaborate with product and development teams to define test objectives, map out comprehensive test plans, and track defects efficiently in Jira or Bugzilla.
Security & Data Integrity: Apply baseline security testing awareness to identify common vulnerabilities during the automation lifecycle.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
Deep Coding Depth: Exceptional, production-ready coding skills in TypeScript are mandatory. You must be comfortable with data structures, OOP principles, and clean code practices.
Polyglot Mindset: Hands-on exposure or a strong willingness to work within modern languages like GoLang, Kotlin, or Swift to better test our native and backend services.
End-to-End Automation Mastery: Proven track record automating both web platforms (Cypress/Selenium) and backend/API infrastructure.
DevOps Mindset: Practical experience configuring test execution within automated CI/CD environments.
Analytical Execution: Strong capability to own test plans, analyze system metrics under load, and champion data-driven quality metrics.
Who This Role Is NOT For:
To save your time and ours, please note that we are explicitly filtering against:
Profiles that are primarily focused on Manual QA or visual/exploratory testing.
Non-hands-on Managers, coordinators, or leads who no longer actively write code.
Candidates who rely strictly on record-and-playback tools without deep, raw programmatic coding experience.
