    About the Opportunity

    A cutting-edge technology organization is seeking an experienced RF Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and validation of advanced RF and electromagnetic systems used in next-generation sensing platforms. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of RF engineering, advanced instrumentation, physics, software, and hardware development to bring innovative sensing solutions from prototype to deployable products.

    The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep expertise in RF hardware, electromagnetics, test methodologies, and system integration who enjoys solving complex technical challenges in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

    What You'll Do
    • Own RF system requirements, performance budgets, architectures, interfaces, and verification strategies for advanced sensing platforms.
    • Design, model, build, and characterize RF and microwave hardware including antennas, resonators, electrodes, shielding assemblies, fixtures, interconnects, and field-delivery systems.
    • Develop RF signal-chain architectures involving signal generation, amplification, filtering, frequency conversion, distribution, and low-noise analog interfaces.
    • Create and improve controlled RF test environments, field-generation setups, calibration methods, and measurement procedures.
    • Perform RF measurements including gain, loss, impedance, phase, frequency response, noise, linearity, coupling, shielding effectiveness, and dynamic range.
    • Develop and maintain RF performance budgets covering noise, phase noise, harmonics, leakage, compression, spurious signals, and overall system performance.
    • Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization activities.
    • Utilize electromagnetic and circuit simulation tools to guide design decisions and correlate simulation results with measured data.
    • Develop automation scripts and tools for instrument control, calibration, testing, data acquisition, and technical reporting.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across electrical, software, embedded, optical, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineering disciplines.
    • Support product verification, documentation, design reviews, risk assessments, and transition to production environments.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Electromagnetics, or a related technical discipline.
    • 5+ years of experience in RF, microwave, electromagnetics, antenna systems, advanced sensing technology, or related hardware development.
    • Proven experience designing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting RF or microwave systems.
    • Strong hands-on laboratory experience with:
      • Vector Network Analyzers (VNA)
      • Spectrum Analyzers
      • Signal Generators
      • Oscilloscopes
      • RF Power Meters
      • RF Measurement Equipment
    • Strong understanding of:
      • Impedance Matching
      • RF Signal Chains
      • Noise Figure
      • Dynamic Range
      • Phase Noise
      • Signal Integrity
      • EMI/EMC
      • Shielding & Grounding
      • Measurement Uncertainty
    • Experience developing RF test methods, calibration strategies, acceptance criteria, and performance validation plans.
    • Proficiency with RF and EM simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, ADS, AWR, COMSOL, FEKO, or similar.
    • Experience using Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or equivalent tools for automation and data analysis.
    • Strong technical communication skills and ability to work independently within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with advanced sensing, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, defense, or high-performance hardware systems.
    • Knowledge of calibrated RF measurements, field mapping, anechoic environments, TEM/GTEM cells, or radiated testing.
    • Experience designing antennas, resonators, couplers, shielding structures, RF fixtures, and specialized electromagnetic hardware.
    • Familiarity with low-phase-noise oscillators, synthesizers, mixers, frequency-conversion architectures, and precision analog signal chains.
    • Experience with RF PCB design, controlled-impedance layouts, EMI mitigation, and signal integrity best practices.
    • Exposure to software-defined radio (SDR), RFSoC platforms, DSP, or mixed hardware/software receiver architectures.
    • Experience transitioning complex RF products from R&D into manufacturing and production environments.
    • Prior experience supporting regulated, aerospace, defense, or government-funded engineering programs is highly desirable.
    • Active or previous security clearance is a plus.

    Location
    • Onsite position in the Louisville, Colorado area.
    • Up to 10% travel as required.
